Under two hours from Johannesburg, Ukutula is a family-run, working lion breeding lodge boasting 260 hectares of land with wildlife such as kudu, zebra, giraffe, gnu, and various species of buck, etc. The highlight, however is seeing the lions of all ages, including the rare white lions.
A half-day visit to Ukutula is just enough to escape from hectic city life and experience the African bush. Highlights of your visit include a tour of the lion and cheetah enclosures, observing a cub-feeding session, interacting with small cubs, and then walking in the bush with larger lions at your side!

Program
Our Loisico representative will pick you up from your hotel in Johannesburg at 06h00 for the morning tour or 12h00 for the afternoon tour, after which you will travel the scenic 2-hour trip to Ukutula Lion Lodge.
On arrival you will be greeted by friendly Ukutula guides who will outline the program for your visit
Morning tour:
You will begin with an unforgettable walk through the bush with large young lions. In the morning they are particularly active and you will have amazing photo opportunities as they climb trees, feed, play, and swim in front of you.
style="float:right;width:600px;"> Your guide will then take you on a tour of the lion enclosures, explaining what is entailed in the breeding and conservation of African lions. After some refreshments, you will proceed to the cub enclosure where you will have a chance to play with the lion cubs, some as young as 3 weeks old! Later you will also visit the enclosure of the tame cheetah, Emma, who will purr loudly as you give her some attention.
Afternoon tour:
Your visit will begin with the tour of the lion enclosures. Please remember your hat and sunscreen, as this is a particularly hot time of the day at Ukutula. After refreshments, you will observe the cub feeding and get to interact with cubs in the enclosure. You will also get to visit Emma the cheetah.
The bush walk with lions in the afternoon goes at a slightly slower pace, as the lions are feeling the heat of the afternoon. However, they still enjoy their time in the bush providing you with incredible photos. After their swim, they feel energized and often wrestle with each other on their way back to their enclosure.
After saying your goodbyes, your Loisico representative will drive you back to your hotel in Johannesburg. You will arrive around 14h00 on the morning tour and 19h00 on the afternoon tour.
